Swift Current, Saskatchewan, has the honour of hosting this year’s Western Canada Summer Games this August! From August 9th to 18th, over 1700 athletes from all over Western Canada will come to Swift Current to participate in races and competitions. This 10 day event will feature competitive youth sports including: soccer, basketball, indoor and beach volleyball, softball, baseball, swimming, rowing, diving, cycling, canoeing and kayaking, tennis, wrestling, golf, triathlon, and athletics. Participating athletes are between 13 and 20 years of age and include both female and male competitors.
If you love sports, don’t miss your chance to attend some of the races and games. An all-access pass to the Summer Games is just $95 ($65 for seniors). You can also get passes to the first or second half of the 10 day event for $50 ($35 for seniors), or a single day pass for just $15 ($10 for seniors). By purchasing a pass, you are not only getting the experience of watching great athletes in an exciting atmosphere, but also supporting the local community and athletic programs for youth.
Swift Current is very excited to be hosting this year’s event. Future generations of locals and visitors will be able to enjoy the brand new beach volleyball courts at Riverside Park and the new mountain bike course that have been built for this year’s competitions.
The competitions will take place in various venues all over Swift Current, including the Aquatic Centre, Riverside Park, the City Recreation Complex, and other fields and venues around town.
