It’s the time of year when getting out and soaking up the sun and fresh air is all but impossible to resist. This rings especially true this year, after being stuck inside for so long during quarantine. While there may not be as many events to enjoy this summer, you can still get out and appreciate some of the local mainstays. Things may look a little different, but there are still lots of ways to have a good time in the community.
Market Square is one such local favourite. The weekly outdoor market features a range of vendors and is a wonderful way to spend a Saturday. Browse the offerings, get some exercise and wave to some friendly faces along the way. The market opens at 9 am each Saturday and closes at 1 pm. Admission is free and you can take in the weekly event all the way up until September 26, so there’s still plenty of time left to get in on the action.
Those who are interested in checking out Market Square this summer can rest assured that appropriate safety measures have been put in place to help keep everyone healthy and safe. The number of people admitted to the market at one time is limited. Hand washing stations are available and cleaning and disinfecting of the market have been stepped up.
Seating for this year’s market has been eliminated, as have children’s activities and musical performances. While many will miss these popular attractions, the need to avoid group gatherings is of the utmost importance. In addition, any food being sold by market vendors is to be pre-packaged.
