Since 1974, the Art Gallery of Swift Current (AGSC) has served as the best place in the city to explore the visual arts. With its year-round exhibits, classes and workshops and art supply service, the AGSC is a must-see for any artistically minded person visiting Swift Current. Whether you’re a life-long painter or a casual gallery spectator, the Art Gallery of Swift Current should definitely make its way on to your travel itinerary.

The exhibits at the Art Gallery of Swift Current have a strong focus on artists from Saskatchewan, and their works often draw inspiration from the provinces landscapes. During the month of January you can see Regina artist Zane Wilcox’s Perceptual Playground exhibition in the Main Gallery. The exhibit features a series of strategically space free-standing square structures which offer a challenge to the viewer’s perception of space. Later in the month you can see Samskara, a beautiful series of paintings that explore the natural landscapes of Saskatchewan by artist Diana Chabros. The best part about the gallery? Visiting is free during regular hours!

Interesting in exploring your own artistic side? In addition to the exhibits, the gallery also offers guided tours and lots of exciting workshops for both children and adults. Coming up in February and March are workshops on staining glass and storyboarding for comic books. Starting on February 2nd is Imagination Station, a drawing, painting and sculpture workshop for younger children that runs for six Saturdays. To find out more information about the workshops offered at the AGSC, go to their website.
